Does it really work? |
| |
- Evidence shows that you are 4 times more likely to succeed in quitting smoking when you receive professional help.
|
| |
How does the course work? |
| |
- At your first meeting with the Stop Smoking Adviser, you will both work out the best way to help you stop smoking and you will set a quit date.
- A variety of medication is available on prescription. Research shows that using
Nicotine Replacement Therapy
doubles your chances of successfully stopping smoking.
- After your initial consultation with the Stop Smoking Adviser details of further sessions will be available. These sessions are there to support and motivate you and to help you stay on the path during the tough times.
- Follow up meetings can be on a one to one basis or could be as part of a group. If you meet as part of a group you can sign up for 6 weeks and usually you meet at the same time each week.
- The sessions give you the opportunity to ask for advice on any difficulties that may arise, for example, how to cope with short intense cravings – and can help you plan for them so that you are ready to cope when needed to make sure you stay quit!
